Level 3 Teaching Assistant 

Location: Burnley
Contract: Full-time, Temp to Perm
Salary: £13.75 - £15.00 per hour

About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team supporting pupils aged 5-16 who have found mainstream education challenging. Working under the direction of the SENDCo, class teacher, or HLTA, you will play a vital role in delivering targeted interventions designed to accelerate pupil progress and overcome barriers to learning.

This is a full-time position based in Burnley, offering a temp to perm opportunity for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement planning and assessment for individual pupils or small groups to support accelerated progress

  • Support pupils in developing communication, independence, social skills, and positive behaviour management

  • Organise, run, monitor, and report on the impact of targeted interventions

  • Prepare and adapt resources to meet individual student needs

  • Cover classes in the absence of teaching staff as required

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and needs

  • Deliver interventions independently and provide ideas and resources to support learning

Essential Requirements:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade 9-5

  • Relevant childcare/education qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) desirable

  • Experience working with children in an educational setting, including those with EAL (English as an Additional Language)

  • Proven experience delivering small group interventions independently

  • Ability to administer and assess routine tests

The school is a specialist Alternative Provision catering for pupils aged 5-16 who require tailored educational support beyond mainstream settings. The provision offers a broad curriculum that includes vocational studies, outdoor learning, and personal and social development programs designed to prepare students for successful futures.
