Location: Burnley

Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Contract Type: Temp-to-Perm
Hours: Full-time, term-time only
We are currently recruiting a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and forward-thinking specialist school in Burnley that caters for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This temp-to-perm opportunity offers the chance to make a real impact in a nurturing and structured environment, where every staff member plays a vital role in helping students succeed.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support young people who may display challenging behaviour due to a range of social and emotional difficulties. Your role will include:
- Providing tailored support to pupils aged 11–16 with SEMH needs
- Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support behaviour and learning in and out of the classroom
- Helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships
- Supporting the delivery of a therapeutic and inclusive curriculum
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young adults with SEMH or challenging behaviour (in a school, care, youth work, or similar setting)
- A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
- A strong team player with excellent communication skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
