Fully Qualified Maths Teacher needed near Erith

I am currently working with a purpose built school for students with ASC. The school caters for pupils from across Bexley who are supported by a statement of special educational needs or an education, health and care plan, for their moderate learning difficulties and autistic spectrum conditions. Pupils are aged from 5 - 16 years old and have a wide range of attainment when they enter the school.

The school are looking for a maths teacher to join their friendly staff team, working full time and starting after the February half term. This is an ongoing position, which will continue up to at least the summer and has the potential to be extended for a suitable candidate.

The current position open at this school is for a fully qualified teacher to take a secondary class comprising 8 students. The students will all have a statement of special educational needs and are on the autistic spectrum. There will be up to 4 teaching assistants in the room who know the children very well, and experienced SEN teachers are welcome to apply as well as experienced mainstream teachers who fancy a new challenge working in the SEN sector.

Requirements for a successful candidate:

• Must be able to travel to Erith, Kent on a daily basis, starting after the February half term
• Must have a child only DBS registered to the update service
• Must have QTS and experience of teaching maths to pupils with ASC
• Must be able to work during term time between the hours 08:30-16:00
• Must have strong levels of literacy, numeracy and a good knowledge of the secondary maths curriculum up to GCSE
• Must have the ability to direct teaching assistants in the classroom with you
• Training for PECS, Makaton, Team Teach is desirable
