English Graduate - Teaching Assistant - Oldham
Are you an English Graduate with aspirations to move into a career in education?
Teaching Personnel, the leading education recruitment agency in the UK, are working alongside one of our client schools in Oldham who are looking for a recent English Graduate to join them as a Teaching Assistant to join them on a full time basis from September 2019. Initially joining this hard working English department on a fixed term contract, there is an opportunity for the role to turn permanent after an impressive academic year.
- Opportunity for paid experience in a classroom prior to starting a teacher training course
- Work with specialist staff throughout the school to develop your practice
- Build confidence in the classroom
- Full time role from September 2019 until July 2020 in the first instance
- Short drive from M60 motorway
- Earn up to £325 per week, paid in weekly arrears
Our client school is seeking to employ an English Teaching Assistant on a temporary basis, with the opportunity for the successful candidate to gain a permanent position. Our client school is a large academy located in Hollinwood, Oldham. The state of the art facilities were purpose built when two local secondary schools merged together. The school has over 1400 students from the surrounding areas of Failsworth and Hathershaw, and is currently oversubscribed.
"Our academy is a cheerful, friendly place in which everyone can feel at home and give their best. We insist on the highest standards of good behaviour and foster a climate of mutual respect; our students take responsibility for themselves and for others. Our excellent pastoral care (including specialist services) ensures our students are safe and well-supported." Principal.
Whilst working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Join the English department as a full time member of the team
- Work alongside teaching staff to ensure pupils are working to the best of their ability
- Be proactive to supporting students in the classroom
- Potentially be working with small groups of students, delivering pre-planned activities
- Supporting students that may have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and behavioural issues
Although classroom experience isn't essential, it would be highly advantageous for any applicants along with those without an experience in a school setting, but relatable experience in tutoring, coaching and care work. As stated, this is a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate to gain some paid school experience before starting a teacher training course in the future.
If you would like to apply for this post as a English Graduate Teaching Assistant, please apply via the link below or send an updated CV to Chris Beckenham at Manchester North Secondary directly, alternatively call on the number provided for further information.
