Job description

Teaching Personnel are supporting a vibrant and inclusive school dedicated to providing exceptional education and support for students with special educational needs (SEN). As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the learning and development of students with special educational needs. You will work closely with experienced teaching staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

You may be asked to work with children that have Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties as well as Complex Learning Needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Support students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, and numeracy, adapting materials and activities to suit individual needs.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their independence and self-esteem.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to monitor student progress and contribute to the assessment process.
  • Promote inclusion and diversity within the school community, respecting the individuality of each student.
  • Support with personal care

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with children or adults with SEN.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the changing needs of students and the school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
