Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant
Job description
Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are actively seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team at one of our partner schools in Morden.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, assisting them in overcoming behavioral challenges.
- Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and other professionals to implement and monitor individualized behavior plans.
- Foster positive relationships with students, promoting emotional well-being and social development.
- Implement de-escalation and behavior management strategies to create a supportive and calm learning environment.
- Collaborate with external agencies and parents/guardians to ensure a holistic and consistent approach to student support.
- Monitor and record student progress, contributing to the development of personalized intervention strategies.
- Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive school culture that recognizes and values the unique strengths of each student.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or behavioral support (desired).
- Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs.
- Understanding of behavior management strategies and a commitment to creating a positive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
