Cover Supervisor - Stockport

Are you graduate with aspirations of becoming a secondary teacher but lack the required experience?

Are you looking for flexible work as a classroom Cover Supervisor in a secondary school from September?

Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with an Outstanding client secondary school in Stockport who are looking to recruit a Cover Supervisor from September on a flexible, temporary basis.

What is a Cover Supervisor?

As a Cover Supervisor, you will cover a range of lessons in the absence of class teachers due to short term sickness or internal training. As this is flexible ad-hoc work, you can expect a call on the morning of from 7am as and when the request for a Cover Supervisor comes in from the school.

Each day you work, you will report to the cover manager of the school to be briefed on your timetable for the day. Your day to day responsibilities will involve delivering pre-set work to a class of pupils and ensure they remain on task with this. Once the lesson is completed, you will collect in the work and hand it back to the appropriate teacher.

Cover Supervising is unqualified teaching and so will give you the best first hand experience of managing a classroom if considering a career in secondary teaching!

The successful candidate will ideally:

  • Hold a degree
  • Have aspirations of becoming a secondary teacher
  • Have some availability for flexible short notice work
  • Be confident in order to manage a class of pupils well
  • Have previous experience in a similar setting or working with young people
  • Have a suitable DBS registered with the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
