Behaviour Support Assistant
Job description
Job Vacancy: Behaviour Support Officer – Secondary School, Preston
Start Date: 5th January 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Preston, Lancashire
We are looking for a committed and compassionate Behaviour Support Officer to join our dedicated team in a busy secondary school in Preston. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact on students’ lives by supporting their behaviour, wellbeing, and personal development. Starting from the 5th of January, you will play a vital role in helping create a calm and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.
In this role, you will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and students to provide targeted behaviour support and intervention. You will help manage challenging behaviour, encourage positive attitudes, and assist students in developing the skills they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. Your input will be invaluable in promoting a safe and inclusive school culture, fostering respect and resilience among students.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and empathetic in difficult situations. You should be a team player who is proactive, patient, and committed to supporting the holistic development of all students. A background in behaviour management, pastoral care, or education support is highly desirable, but not essential if you have a strong willingness to learn and grow in this role.
We offer a supportive and collaborative working environment where professional development is encouraged and valued. Join us to make a real difference in a school that is committed to nurturing both the academic and personal growth of its students.
