We are currently looking to recruit a teaching assistant / learning support assistant to work with a student with behavioural difficulties on a 1:1 basis. The role will be full-time, starting September. This will be working under the instructions of the SENCO (special educational needs coordinator) and Inclusion manager, assisting the pupil, ensuring that their academic and social needs are met. You will be expected to work on a 1:1 basis with a specific student, assisting them with their class work in a range of subjects, based in and outside of the classroom. Other responsibilities include monitoring the behaviour and progress of the student. It will be key to develop a working relationship. You will be supporting learning and helping raise the attainment of the student within the school, by engaging them in the curriculum, enabling them to become an independent learner and helping them to participate fully in the life of the school. Keeping the student focused on a task, encouraging participation in a positive learning environment and giving positive and negative daily feedback whilst ensuring the student conducts themselves in line with the school rules.
Key skills and experience needed:
* Previous support work within a school or other transferable child-related experience
* A firm presence and strong behaviour management
* Previous one to one, small group work and/or whole class support
* Proactive, engaging and empathetic.
* Experience or knowledge within special educational needs
