TP 30 Years - Rebecca
As we celebrate 30 years of making difference, get to know Rebecca who has worked at Teaching Personnel for nearly a decade.
Being able to support schools and help place the right educators has kept her fulfilled in her role as a business manager.
How long have you been with Teaching Personnel and where are you based? What first brought you to join us?
I have worked at Teaching Personnel 9 years and 7 months! I work in the Southampton office on the Hampshire Primary team. A friend recommended me to the business and here I still am.. almost 10 years later.
Tell us about your role. How has it evolved over time, and what do you love most about it?
I am currently a business manager, I work with the Portsmouth primary schools, and I also support the team and their desk development. I love the balance of building great relationships with schools and educators but also supporting new starters and sharing my passion for the role with them.
What has been a highlight of working here?
The Southampton office. Everyone is so lovely and we are like one big family. I love coming into work and working with such lovely people. Also, the relationships I have with schools and educators.
What has surprised you most in your time here?
Probably how much I love my job. Recruitment can be hard, lots of ups and downs but you become resilient over the years, and you learn to ride the wave. Being able to support schools and help place the right educators makes a real difference, and that’s what makes the job so fulfilling.
How has the company invested in your development? How do you use those skills today?
Teaching Personnel provides a wide range of internal training opportunities, which have helped me build my skills and confidence in my role. In addition to formal training, there’s a very supportive environment where colleagues and managers are always available to offer guidance and advice. One key area of growth has been my ability to build and manage long-term partnerships with schools. I’ve developed stronger consultative selling skills, really understanding school needs and aligning our staffing solutions to support them effectively.
What would you tell someone considering joining Teaching Personnel?
I’ve actually referred around 12 people to the company, which reflects how positively I view the culture and environment. It’s a very supportive place to work, there’s always help available, and people want you to succeed. At the same time, it is a hardworking environment, but that’s balanced well with a fun and social culture. There are regular team activities, games, and social events that make it an enjoyable place to be. What I also highlight is how rewarding the role is. We work closely with fantastic schools and educators, and you can see the real impact you’re making by helping place the right people in the right roles.
As Teaching Personnel celebrates 30 years, what are you most excited to see in the company’s future?
I’m excited to see how the company continues to grow and evolve within the education sector. I am also excited to see the success of our newer starters.
