Tutor (Primary, Secondary, GCSE & SEND)

Location: Northampton and surrounding areas
Job Type: Flexible, Temporary, with potential for permanent opportunities
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, during school hours

Make a Difference Through One-to-One Tuition

TP Tutors is looking for passionate, dedicated, and experienced tutors to provide personalised one-to-one tuition to children and young people across Northampton and the surrounding areas.

Tuition may take place in pupils' homes, schools, or alternative education settings during school hours. You will support learners with additional educational needs, gaps in education, exam preparation, and specialist SEND requirements.

Whether you are a qualified teacher, experienced tutor, or SEND specialist, this is an excellent opportunity to help pupils build confidence, develop essential skills, and achieve their educational goals.

The Role

As a Tutor, you will deliver engaging, tailored lessons that meet each learner's individual needs, abilities, and learning style. You will help pupils improve academic performance, develop confidence, and make measurable progress.

Assignments may cover Primary, Secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills, Alternative Provision, and SEND tuition.

Subjects We Cover

We welcome tutors with experience in one or more of the following:

  • English, Mathematics, and Science
  • Literacy and Numeracy
  • Primary National Curriculum
  • GCSE subjects
  • Functional Skills
  • Humanities and Modern Foreign Languages
  • Computing and Creative Arts
  • Other National Curriculum subjects

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Plan and prepare high-quality, differentiated learning activities.
  • Assess progress and provide written feedback after each session.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different abilities and learning styles.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, schools, and professionals.
  • Support academic progress, confidence, and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of two years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Knowledge or experience of Primary, Secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills, or SEND education.
  • Strong lesson planning, assessment, communication, and behaviour management skills.
  • Reliable access to transport and the ability to travel across Northampton and surrounding areas.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • QTS, PGCE, or another recognised teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.

Desirable Experience

Experience supporting learners with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, Dyslexia, SLCN, EHCPs, SEND, Alternative Provision, or home tuition would be highly advantageous.

Location and Availability

This role covers Northampton and surrounding areas. Tutors must be able to travel reliably to pupils' homes, schools, and alternative education settings during school hours, Monday to Friday.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
