Year 1 Teacher
The Head teacher of a school in Darwen is seeking an individual who can teach effectively across the Year 1 class in school. The class size consists of 30 children, predominately heavy with boys and a number of children with special educational needs. The main role of the class teacher will be to follow the National Curriculum and the Year 1 learning objectives; build strong relationships with the children, parents and other staff members; use assessment for learning techniques to develop understanding and move the children’s learning forward.
The school is set on the outskirts of Darwen town centre and is easily commutable by car and public transport. The general catchment of the school is mixed, with a higher than average proportion of children arriving from ‘low income’ backgrounds. With this, the school receive funding through the Government and the Local Authority to support children who are targeted with additional support and experiences. As the class teacher, you will be expected to plan and deliver ensuring the children are differentiated for and given the best opportunity to succeed in school.
The Head teacher has been in roll for over two years and has transformed her SLT as well as the teaching and learning team. The atmosphere in school is positive and supportive, through the office staff all the way through to the Head teacher. As an improving school however, there will be expectations to perform to the best of your ability from day one; the Head teacher will use her timetable to observe and support all members of staff and ensure standards are high. You will be given regular feedback and given chance to reflect on your practice on a daily basis. As part of the full-time teacher role, you will be expected to attend regular school INSET sessions, twilights and staff meetings. You will become fully engrossed in the role and build strong working relationships with the management team.

Qualified Teacher Status QTS
Experience working in a KS1 classroom setting
Experience working alongside children with special educational needs and challenging behaviour
