Wellbeing Mentor
Support pupils on a 1:1 basis

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a secondary school in Monmouthshire to recruit a well-being mentor to work as a teaching assistant full time from February.. The headteacher has identified a number of students who will need additional support following the current lock down. It's essential that the teaching assistant makes the transition back to school as easy as possible.
You will be joining a large support team that excel in driving pupils learning and development. This department play a key role in supporting the pupils well-being with special education needs and learning difficulties within the school. The role requires you to work within the mainstream classroom as well as the additional needs hub. This academic year has been very disruptive between lock downs and circuit breakers. The school are looking for someone to understand just how that can affects children's well-being and are able to support that as well as academics.
The ideal teaching assistant/well-being mentor :
- Experience with wellbeing and SEN (personal, voluntary or professional)-
- Have a understanding or experience supporting ASC, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD or PMLD
- Experience offering pastoral and creative support for students who present anxiety or disengaging behaviours
- Calm nature and proactive approach
Schools are planning to go back to face to face learning in February. This role is to start immediately to support students. At first you will be based in the schools HUB whilst they are closed to face to face learning. From there you will set up to do wellbeing calls for students you will support once lockdown is lifted.
To be successful as a wellbeing mentor there is plenty of training opportunties through the school and out CPD academy.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
