Teaching Assistant (Team Teach) - Oldham

An outstanding Multi Academy trust are looking to appoint a behaviour support assistant to start immediately after Easter and will involve working 5 days per week Monday - Friday. Initially, the position will be temporary from Easter until the end of the academic, however there may be potential for an extension dependent on funding.

The trust runs across 4 sites based in Oldham. Sites cater for individuals between 4 - 19 with a Statement of SEN or an EHCP, on the autistic spectrum and/or have significant communication and interaction difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

The role will involve planning and implementing outreach activities that are designed to encourage the development of pupil's life skills and enhance their employability. Due to the specific needs of the pupils we would be interested in applicants with experience of supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour. The ideal behaviour support assistant will have experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour and understand how to de-escalate situations. The head of site has also suggested that due to the behaviours of some of the pupils applicants from males would be favourable as the pupils who attend the setting tend to respond better to male role models.

The ideal behaviour support assistant will have:

Team-Teach training (can be provided by Teaching Personnel)

• A considerable amount of experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour
• Experience working within a special needs setting
• An understanding of the de-escalation tactics and crisis prevention
