Job description

An SEN Primary School in the Wigan Borough are looking to take on a Teaching Assistant full time!

 

This lovely school caters for students with complex special needs, such as Autism Spectrum Condition, Speech and Communication delay and behaviour needs. Some students have also have physical disability and medical needs.

The school is located between Wigan and Bolton so is easily accessible from both areas by train and bus! A Teaching Assistant local to these areas would have ideal accessibility to the school.

As Teaching Assistany at this school, you'll work within a small class of students, supporting their learning and engagement. 
The students follow a sensory and holistic curriculum, which includes lots of fun activities to build social confidence and independence too! You'll help with inclusivity and ensure all students are able to participate in thier activities. 
All students will have an educational health care plan with specialied therapies to support their porgression, you will also help implement these therapies which may include speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and emotional wellbeing.

Other duties may include;

  • Personal Care
  • Moving and Handling
  • Logging reports of progression and safeguarding

To be considered for the role of Teaching Assistant you need;

  • Experience supporting special needs
  • Experience with children 
  • Experience in education/ school environment (desired )

Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered).

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.
