Are you a support worker looking for a new challenge?
Wanting to start a career in education but need to get your foot in the door?
If you're looking to start building career enhancing experience which can give you the skills and knowledge to succeed in a rewarding role, we can help.
At Teaching Personnel, our specialist branches support schools of all types, including special educational needs schools.
Within these schools, students have a range of learning and physical difficulties which can range from mild to moderate and require 1:1 assistance in all areas of their school life, such as classwork, behaviour, emotional well being and personal care.
Each student will have an Educational Health Care Plan which briefs you on how best to support them and their specific needs which can be the result of conditions such as Autism, Aspergers, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Global delay and more.
Specialist school curriculum mainly focuses on a holistic approach to learning, incorporating sensory and cognitive activities and plenty of social interaction, and subtly adding core subject knowledge into the work to help the students progress in building life skills.
If you have a background of support work, or child care, or something similar, your skills are valuable and transferable to this type of role and can help you to gain experience in a school environment.
You must have a very caring and patient personality and must be passionate about the development and well-being of the students. You must have a non judgemental personality and be understanding that challenging situations are to be dealt with calmly.
You will need to have an enhanced, CHILD WORKFORCE ONLY DBS which is registered to the update service, or be willing to apply for one.
This opportunity can be available on multiple bases; day to day supply, short term and long term contracts and the opportunity for permanent roles. You will also have the opportunity to enhance your skills and qualifications through our CPD Academy and open to take on any further training offered by a school.
