Teaching Assistant - Global Learning Delay

Job description

A larger than average sized SEN School looking to recruit a specialist teaching assistant who can support a child in Key Stage 1 with Global Learning Delay (GLD).

The position is to start in January 2019 and the school will be looking to trialing candidates.

The candidate will be required to:

  • Show a willingness to deal with a wide range of challenging and obsessional behaviours

  • Supervise and provide particular support for a pupil with GLD ensuring the child's safety and access to learning activities

  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes

  • Establish a constructive relationship with the pupil and interact with them according to their individual needs

  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils

  • Encourage the child to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher

  • Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence

  • Provide feedback to child in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher

  • Be patient and calm and be aware of the children's needs
