Location: Bournemouth, Dorset
Salary: £13.75 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, full-time

 


Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs in a nurturing and structured environment?

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Primary PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) school in Dorset. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children aged 4–11 years who require additional support due to a range of special educational needs and behavioural challenges.


About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support classroom teachers in delivering tailored learning experiences
  • Work with pupils with a variety of needs including ADHD, ADD, ASD, SEMH, MLD, OCD, ODD, speech and language difficulties, and other behavioural challenges
  • Help create a safe, consistent, and engaging learning environment
  • Assist in implementing positive behaviour support strategies
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage emotional and academic development
  • Contribute to the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, either in education or care settings
  • Patient, resilient, and compassionate with a proactive approach
  • Skilled in de-escalating challenging behaviour calmly and safely
  • Able to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff
  • Understanding of SEMH and mental health needs in young children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
