Teacher (SEMH) - Rochdale - immediate start

A Specialist Pupil Referral Unit located in Rochdale are currently looking to recruit an SEMH Teacher for an immediate start. This role will involve working 5 days per week Monday – Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm.

The Setting itself is an outstanding Provision situated in Rochdale which caters for secondary aged pupils who have SEMH needs.  The pupils who attend this Provision have a variety of needs including: SEMH needs, behavioural and emotional difficulties, teenage pregnancy and young people who may be experiencing issues with drug and alcohol issues.

The role will involve planning and delivering lessons which are designed to support the optimal development of pupils with SEN. Due to the specific needs of the pupils we would be interested in applicants who have a considerable amount of experience supporting children or young people with SEMH. Please be aware that this can be working in a support capacity and does not have to be direct teaching experience. Experience working with young people or adults with SEMH is desirable.

The ideal teacher will be:

• An experienced teacher who is committed to supporting and encouraging the development of pupils with SEMH needs

• Be able to adapt lessons to assure that learning is accessible to pupils with SEMH 

• Be able to establish and maintain working relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community

• Non judgemental and be empathetic towards students 

• Ideally Team-Teach trained (can be provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
