Job description

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable SEN Teacher with QTS to work on a supply basis within a specialist setting in Shepton Mallet.

This role offers flexibility, with both part-time and full-time opportunities available from September 2026 (Earlier start date may be possible), with the potential to support learners across a wide age range from 4 to 18.

This well-established setting provides a positive, inclusive environment where pupils with Asperger’s and associated needs are supported to thrive. The school is known for its strong team ethos, high expectations, and commitment to helping every learner build confidence, independence and achieve their full potential.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs

  • Support pupils with autism spectrum conditions and associated challenges

  • Maintain a structured, calm and positive classroom environment

  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet a wide range of abilities

  • Work collaboratively with staff to support pupil progress and wellbeing

 

Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential

  • Minimum of 6 months childcare experience, ideally supporting SEN pupils

  • Strong communication skills and emotional resilience

  • Ability to engage, motivate and inspire learners

  • Calm, flexible and able to adapt to changing situations

  • Passion for supporting children’s independence and wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
