Job description

Class Teacher – Specialist SEN Provision

We are recruiting a committed and enthusiastic Class Teacher to join a highly respected independent specialist provision in Templecombe. This is a full-time role with an immediate start.

The school supports boys aged 6 to 13 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside additional learning difficulties and EHCPs. Many pupils have experienced challenges in mainstream education and benefit from a nurturing, structured and therapeutic environment. With small classes of up to eight pupils, high staff ratios and exceptional facilities, the school provides a safe space where children rebuild confidence and develop a love of learning.

 

The Role

  • Teach a small class group following the primary National Curriculum

  • Adapt learning to meet SEMH and additional needs

  • Support pupils who may present with challenging behaviour

  • Work collaboratively with specialist staff and pastoral teams

  • Contribute to personalised learning plans and EHCP reviews

  • Promote self-esteem, resilience and positive relationships

The curriculum is broad and engaging, incorporating outdoor learning, enrichment activities and therapeutic support to inspire and motivate pupils.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience of SEN, particularly SEMH

  • Strong behaviour management and relational practice skills

  • Creativity, patience and emotional resilience

  • Commitment to safeguarding and teamwork

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
