Upskilling educators through our Paediatric First Aid course
Alex, a Consultant in our Birmingham Primary branch shares how our recent Paediatric First Aid Course went and its importance for primary school educators.
Having met with schools and prioritising their current needs, I could see a clear gap when it came to educator training and qualifications. A huge gap I identified was schools needing Paediatric First Aid trained educators. This was a key area that would help us to fulfil the needs of the primary school we work with.
We were initially connected with ACI training at the Nursery Management Event in November and after establishing a relationship with them, they agreed to trialling a Paediatric First Aid course in Birmingham and Preston. ACI Training are a small business owned by Kate Lewis, previously a registered nurse, and they offer over 70 courses!
On the day Kate and Darren from ACI Training supported our Birmingham office through in person training including:
CPR,
recovery position,
use of defibrillator,
choking,
EpiPens and inhalers,
bleeding,
burns, and
bandages.
It was a busy day with a great group of educators who all felt like they learnt valuable information so that they could support in an emergency.
We had 9 educators who attended the Paediatric First Aid training course. All who attended leaving fantastic comments such as "Great instructors who were approachable and knowledgeable", "Valuable education made accessible and easy to understand".
With the demand for Paediatric First Aid trained educators increasing rapidly, we are committed to upskilling educators by offering these in person training courses! I attended the course on the day, offering support where needed and also took the time to chat to educators about their recent/ current placements - it was great to have that personal contact with our educators which we often don't get via phone check ins!
Overall, we had a great day and hope to build a long standing relationship with ACI, upskilling educators and fulfilling school demands!
