  • Help pupils improve their understanding, academic performance and confidence.
  • Plan and prepare lessons that make learning interesting and accessible.
  • Adjust teaching techniques to suit different abilities and learning requirements.
  • Identify areas for improvement and regularly review pupils' progress.
  • Promote independent learning and encourage positive attitudes towards education.
  • Provide additional support to children with SEND and emotional or behavioural challenges.
  • Maintain communication with parents, schools and relevant professionals.
  • Ensure all sessions follow safeguarding requirements and prioritise pupil welfare.

Subjects and Expertise

We are interested in tutors who can offer support in one or more of the following areas:

  • Primary English, Maths and Reading.
  • Secondary English, Mathematics and Science.
  • GCSE tuition and exam preparation.
  • Functional Skills, Literacy and Numeracy.
  • History, Geography and other Humanities subjects.
  • Computing and Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

  • A minimum of two years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience working with children of primary or secondary school age.
  • Strong lesson planning and delivery skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • A supportive, patient and adaptable teaching approach.
  • Access to transport or the ability to travel across Peterborough and nearby locations.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

QTS, PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.

SEND Experience

We particularly welcome applicants who have previously supported pupils with:

  • Possibility of ongoing placements and permanent positions.
  • The chance to make a genuine difference to children's academic and personal development.
