Special Need Teachers shape our pupil's future by ensuring they have the best possible outcomes through creative learning and social opportunities. With high demands for skilled teachers to teach children with SEN in schools across Ealing we are looking for Teachers confident in the EYFS or Primary curriculum teaching to start immediately.
We work closely with a special need primary school based near Wembley that is looking to appoint QTS, PGCE or relevant degree equivalent teachers for Early Years, KS1 and KS2 sensory learning classes. The school has two departments to support pupils across the school with autism and complex learning needs. The school are looking to appoint Teachers for their complex needs department to teach pupils with complex medical, sensory and physical conditions. Having experience in a special school or hospital school is ideal, however, teachers with a good understanding of SEN teaching and openness to training will also be considered.

- Full-time position till July 2020 minimally with permanent contract offers throughout academic year
- Special needs training provided to teachers in areas such as database usage, Makaton, Eye Gaze, Moving and Handling, TEACCH and Applied Behavioural Analysis
- In class support with 3 Highly trained Teaching Assistants to support pupils in class and across school with personal care and moving and handling
- Established behaviour and SEN policy in school devised by SLT, therapy and behaviour leads
- Local to Wembley, Sudbury Hill and Greenford tube stations and with additional bus routes
Responsibilities
- Lead a small class of up to 6 pupils with severe and complex cognitive and medical conditions
- Write Individual Learning Plans (ILP) for pupils in class collaborating with in-house therapy and Senior Leadership
- Use school database tools (training will be provided) to record and access pupil progress
- Participate fully in pupil Annual Reviews and ILP progress meetings
Curriculum:
The school has a cross curricular approach with termly topics based around the areas of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Lessons are tailored to suit the needs of each pupil through the use of a range of therapeutic and teaching approaches such as:
- Play based learning
- Sensory Awareness
- Development of Attention Skills
- Multi sensory approaches e.g. Eye Gaze, PECS or Makaton
- TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children)
- Physiotherapy, Music Therapy and Music Therapy
