Job description

SEMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

Location: Stockport

Start date: ASAP / Flexible

Contract type: Full-time / Part-time

Teaching Personnel are working with a specialist school in the Stockport area to support secondary-aged students with complex needs, including mental health challenges, anxiety and behavioural issues.

Your role

  • Collaborate with teachers to design and deliver engaging learning experiences that cater to individual needs.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them develop academic skills, communication, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment that fosters social interaction and personal growth.

Who we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting young people with mental health needs in a school or care setting (UK).
  • A calm and confident approach to de-escalating challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A real passion for making a difference to young people’s lives 
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
