Teacher of SEN Aylesbury

A specialised school in Aylesbury are currently looking for a full time teacher. The post would suit either an experienced SEN teacher, or a general teacher with SEN experience. The school caters for children and young people from 10-19 years old. Pupils have Severe Learning Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Autism and/or additional complex needs.

Some students have well developed verbal communication skills while others are non verbal and are currently developing use of symbols, PECS and/or Makaton. Many pupils also experience sensory processing difficulties and struggle to cope with the social world around them, which may then result in challenging behaviours. That being said the school have recently been commended for their outstanding behaviour management, staff and student wellbeing and the strength and positivity of relationships between staff and students.

The school can offer:

  • Small classes, typically less than 8 pupils per class
  • A large team of support staff and additional healthcare professionals
  • A supportive leadership team
  • Good CPD opportunities for staff
  • Dynamic vision and plans for future development

Their Aim:

  1. To deliver stimulating, challenging and highly effective learning, centred around the needs and preferences of each individual
  2. To provide a caring, sensitive and learning environment
  3. To provide a highly individualised education, enabling each child and young person to achieve above and beyond what may have been thought possible
  4. To provide safe environment; ensuring each young person's wellbeing and allowing them to excel in everything they do
  5. To ensure that each child and young person is motivated, and able, to effectively communicate wherever they are
  6. To facilitate each child and young person's ability to understand their needs and be able to self-regulate and self-advocate
  7. For each child and young person to be constantly developing independence skills in all areas of their life
  8. For each child and young person to leave school able to engage with and contribute to their community

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an enthusiastic, dynamic child-centred teacher
  • Have experience teaching pupils with SEN whether in a specialised setting or a mainstream school
  • Possess full UK QTS
  • Commit to helping each child to reach their individual potential
