Sports Graduate Teaching Assistant role in York

The School

  • Graded as Good by OSTED in their February 2017 inspection
  • Caters for pupils across Key Stage 1 - 5 who have been excluded from mainstream education, or referred to by Local Authorities
  • Based in South York, Fulford and has around 120 pupils on roll, with numbers rapidly increasing
  • Gives students the choice of vocational qualifications and GSCEs from Year 9, such as construction and resistant materials, BTEC Physical Education and GCSE Art

The Role

  • Working with Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 pupils on a small group and 1:1 basis
  • Managing behaviour effectively, in-line with the school's ethos and policies
  • Delivering sports coaching sessions through the week and promoting it as a way to de-escalate rising behaviour tensions
  • Supporting the main class teacher and be able to follow instructions without hesitation
  • Full Time position to start immediately and continue until February or Easter 2018
