Job description

Learning Support Assistants – Specialist Primary School Near Winchester

Location: Compton, Winchester, Hampshire
Age Range: 4–11 years

An established independent specialist school near Winchester is seeking compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join their team. The school caters to children aged 4 to 11 with a range of complex learning needs, including profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), learning disabilities (LD), and autism spectrum conditions (ASC).

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting young children in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting students with accessing the curriculum and participating in school activities

  • Supporting individual learning plans and promoting communication and social skills

  • Working closely with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support

  • Creating a calm and structured environment that enables students to thrive

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional needs

  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to supporting students

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate well with staff and students

  • A current DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one before employment
