Job description

Learning Support Assistant (SEN/SEMH) – Immediate Start

Location: Hedge End 

Start Date: ASAP – Until Christmas (Potential to extend)

Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant with a passion for supporting children with SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs and Autism?

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate LSA to join a supportive and nurturing school environment, starting immediately and continuing through to the end of the Christmas term — with the strong possibility of a longer-term position for the right candidate.

 About the Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCo to adapt and deliver engaging and accessible learning.

  • Support students in managing emotions, building self-esteem, and developing positive relationships.

  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

About You:

  • Proven experience supporting children with SEN and SEMH, ideally in a school or similar setting.

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build trust with students.

  • Knowledge of strategies to support Autism Spectrum Conditions, emotional regulation, and sensory needs.

  • A team player with a genuine passion for helping every child reach their potential.

 Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Relevant experience and/or qualifications in education or child support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
