SEN Teaching Assistant

Term Time Only
£13.75 per hour | £16,089.45 per annum
Hours: 9:00am – 3:30pm
An opportunity has arisen for a Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Farnborough, supporting children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
The role involves working with pupils aged 2–19 years across a number of different sites, each offering tailored learning environments designed to meet individual needs. Pupils may present with autism, communication difficulties, learning disabilities and associated social, emotional or sensory needs.
Role Overview
The Learning Support Assistant will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, development and wellbeing, working under the direction of teaching staff and alongside a wider multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will contribute to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment in which pupils can engage, develop independence and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the role will include:

Providing individual and small-group support to pupils during lessons and structured activities

Supporting access to the curriculum through adapted learning approaches and personalised strategies

Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social interaction

Assisting pupils with personal care, mobility or medical needs where required

Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and off-site activities

Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff

Maintaining a safe and nurturing environment that prioritises pupil wellbeing
About the Pupils
The setting supports pupils from early years through to post-16, many of whom require consistent, structured support to access education. Learning is delivered in small groups with a strong emphasis on communication, independence, life skills and emotional development.
Suitable Candidates

Individuals seeking a career change or their first role in education are also encouraged to apply. While previous experience is desirable, it is not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
