We are seeking a caring, committed and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist learning environment supporting students aged 11 to 16. This is a full-time role with an immediate start, offering secondary-age opportunities within a setting that places individual progress, emotional wellbeing and positive relationships at the centre of its approach. The provision supports young people with severe autism and Asperger’s, delivering highly personalised support in a calm, structured and nurturing environment. Working hours are typically 8.20am to 4.00pm, with some weekday end times varying.

Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Support students with severe autism and Asperger’s in and out of the classroom

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support across the school day

  • Help pupils develop communication, emotional regulation and independence

  • Implement personalised strategies to support learning and behaviour

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff

  • Promote a safe, calm and structured learning environment

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 6 months of childcare experience, particularly supporting children or young people with SEN

  • Patient, calm and resilient approach

  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships

  • Understanding of behaviour support and emotional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
