SEN Teacher - South Manchester - April 2018

Job description

A specialist school in South Manchester are currently recruiting for a Primary SEN Teacher to start after the Easter holidays. This school provides flexible day placements for students with complex communication, medical and physical needs. Many will have additional sensory issues and high levels of anxiety that affect their ability to cope in mainstream settings and create barriers to learning.

This school are currently looking for a specialist Teacher who are able to teach young people with complex educational needs and are able to differentiate for young people with sensory needs. Ideally, the school are looking for a Teacher who is able to teach to low National Curriculum Levels and Plevels within a Primary aged class. As the school caters for young people with complex needs, majority of pupils are working at Plevels and low National Curriculum levels and follow a sensory curriculum as opposed to a typical curriculum.

This position is to start from after the Easter half term on a long term basis with a potential of permanent. The school would like to meet and interview members of staff ideally week beginning 12.03.2018) so please apply ASAP.

The teacher would ideally;

  • Have experience working in a specialist setting with young people with additional needs
  • Have knowledge and understanding of profound and multiple learning needs
  • Have experience teaching to Plevels and low national curriculum levels
  • Have a strong passion for working with young people with special educational needs
  • Have experience using communication aids, e.g. Makaton, Ipads, PECs

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
