SEN Teacher – SEMH Provision – Secondary School – Manchester (M14) – September 2025

Position: Secondary SEN Teacher (SEMH Focus)
Location: Inner South Manchester
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: MPS1–MPS6 (£32,916–£45,352) / UPS1–UPS3 (£47,472–£51,048) + SEN Allowance (£2,654–£5,497)
Contract: Full-time, long-term with potential for permanent placement

A mainstream secondary school with an embedded SEMH provision is seeking an experienced or aspiring SEN teacher to support pupils with significant social, emotional, and behavioural needs. This specialist provision caters for 25–30 pupils in KS3 and KS4, many of whom have EHCPs and require bespoke support strategies.

You will work alongside pastoral staff, behaviour mentors, and a SENDCo, delivering core subjects and project-based learning in a small-group setting.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons in English, PSHE, and Life Skills

• Develop and implement individual behaviour and academic support plans

• Track pupil progress against EHCP and intervention targets

• Collaborate with external agencies including CAMHS, social workers, and speech & language therapists

• Contribute to whole-school safeguarding and inclusion practices

Candidate Essentials:

• QTS or QTLS (SEN experience highly desirable)

• Previous work with SEMH, ASC, ADHD or trauma-informed settings

• Understanding of de-escalation, Thrive, or Team Teach (training provided if needed)

• Passion for working with pupils who may be disengaged or school-avoidant

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
