Our client provides a quality and inclusive curriculum to children with SEN needs, meaning they need extra support from an attentive assistant whilst they are in the classroom.
The perfect teaching assistant will ideally have experience working with children, in an SEN/ school environment. Your responsibilities would include supporting small groups to understand and enjoy their class or activity, being a source of enthusiasm and help them to rely on.
The children will have a range of needs including physical difficulties, communication issues, Autism and other learning difficulties. Some necessary responsibilities of the role may include moving and handling, feeding, personal care and sensory therapy. Candidates should be prepared for these requirements and ideally be trained in one of those areas; Teaching Personnel can provide courses in these areas if necessary for the role.

The school are looking for a TA to really go the extra mile for the students, who is passionate about their development and committed to their well-being. Building relationships with the students is not only beneficial to their education experience but is very rewarding and purposeful.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be able to provide a positive environment where learning is fun and enjoyable and achievements are celebrated;
  • Encourage all pupils to achieve their full potential;
  • Celebrate individual differences and promote positive attitudes;
  • Provide a caring, safe environment in which pupils are taught to respect themselves and others both in school and the wider community;
  • Promote effective working partnerships with parents, carers and external agencies;
  • Teach all pupils to become effective communicators (pupils may use alternative methods of communication such as Makaton, PECS or Sign Language);
  • Promote good behaviour by acting as a positive role model and providing high quality behaviour management;
  • Utilise the community to enhance the curriculum and enable pupils to practice their social skills in real life situations;
  • Develop pupil self esteem, confidence and independence in preparation for life beyond school;
  • Be passionate about providing sustained, high quality care, guidance and education

This role would be perfect for someone with a social care, youth work, SEN, education background and we are happy to consider all types of experience be it professional or personal.
