SEN Support Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel is currently working in partnership with SEN and SEMH schools across Bolton to recruit committed and compassionate Full-Time SEN Support Assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and want to make a meaningful difference every day.
In this role, you will be supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support, helping pupils to engage with their learning while developing confidence, independence, and emotional resilience in a safe and structured environment. Please note, personal care may be required as part of this role.
Roles and Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN and SEMH needs

Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning plans

Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
-
Help manage challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner

Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Encourage student participation and independence
-
Support with personal care where required (e.g. toileting, hygiene, feeding)

Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to staff

Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
We are looking for individuals who are patient, resilient, and empathetic, with a genuine passion for working with children or young people with additional needs. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships are key to success in this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
