Autism Support Assistant – Full-Time | Newton Heath | February 2026 Start

Location: Newton Heath
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm)
Start Date: After February Half Term

Teaching Personnel is proud to be working with a welcoming primary school in Newton Heath, seeking a dedicated Autism Support Assistant to join their team after February half term.

About the Role

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism, helping them access the curriculum and develop social and communication skills. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored support to pupils with Autism in a classroom setting
  • Implement strategies to promote engagement and positive behaviour
  • Assist with social and emotional development
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning activities
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and communicate effectively with staff and parents

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience supporting children with Autism or other additional needs
  • Understanding of EHCPs and individual learning plans
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

(Relevant qualifications or training in SEN are desirable but not essential.)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
