Behaviour Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint a full-time Behaviour Needs Support Assistant, starting after May half term (Monday 1st June), on behalf of a warm and inclusive primary school in the BL2 area. The role is within KS1 is on an ongoing basis, and the school have said it is highly likely to be needed in the next academic year. This nurturing school is known for creating a safe, supportive environment where every child is understood, valued, and encouraged to thrive.

Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8.30am–3.30pm

About the Role:

You will support a child who struggles to regulate their behaviour as they have social and emotional development needs. They are currently based within the classroom however do access the Specialist Provision within the school during some of the school week. You will need to support the child with their visual timetable as well as being consistent in your approach. You will have regular meetings with the SENCO and class teacher to ensure you are supported appropriately.

Your role will involve 1:1 support to:

· Help the child access the curriculum (some elements tailored for the specific child)

· Implement positive behaviour support strategies

· Observe/ make records of progress of the child

About You:

You’ll be a great fit if you are:

· Experienced working with children or young people with additional needs, whether in schools, residential care, support work, or youth work

· Calm, patient, and confident supporting emotional and behavioural regulation

· Able to adapt activities to meet individual learning needs

· Skilled in building strong, supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and families

· Reliable, proactive, and committed to helping every child succeed

School-based experience is welcomed, but transferable experience is highly valued.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
