Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Opportunity

Urmston
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

Teaching Personnel is proud to be partnering with a warm, inclusive primary school in Urmston to recruit a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 class from September.

This rewarding full-time position involves providing tailored one-to-one and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The school is known for its nurturing approach and strong commitment to ensuring every child is given the opportunity to thrive both academically and socially. You will join a dedicated team of professionals who work collaboratively to create a positive and supportive learning environment.

The Role

As a Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide focused one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning activities that meet individual needs
  • Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Contribute to a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work alongside the Class Teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to support pupil development
  • Monitor progress and adapt support strategies to help pupils achieve their full potential

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Have previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs
  • Be patient, caring, and adaptable in their approach
  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and wellbeing
  • Hold a Level 2 Safeguarding qualification, or be willing to complete training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
