Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time | Urmston

Start Date: September
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Urmston, who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Year 1 team from September.

This full-time role focuses on delivering tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs. The school prides itself on its nurturing, child-centred ethos, where every learner is supported to succeed academically and personally. You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive staff team committed to providing an engaging and accessible learning experience for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted SEN support through one-to-one and small group interventions
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering personalised learning activities
  • Support the implementation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to support pupil progress
  • Monitor and adapt support strategies based on individual pupil development

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Has prior experience supporting children with SEN
  • Demonstrates a patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Communicates confidently and works effectively as part of a team
  • Has a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • Holds a Level 2 Safeguarding certificate (or is willing to complete training)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
