Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time | Urmston

Start Date: April (after Easter holidays)

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a friendly, inclusive primary school in Urmston to recruit a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a Year 1 class. This full-time role (8:30am–3:30pm) begins after the Easter break and focuses on providing tailored one‑to‑one and small‑group support to children with Special Educational Needs.

The school offers a nurturing, child-centred environment where every pupil is supported to thrive. You will join a collaborative staff team dedicated to delivering an engaging, accessible, and well-rounded curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing targeted SEN support through one-to-one and small-group interventions.
  • Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering personalised learning activities.
  • Supporting the implementation, monitoring, and review of IEPs.
  • Helping create and maintain an inclusive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external specialists to promote progress.
  • Monitoring pupil development and adapting support strategies where needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications in English and Maths.
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
  • Level 2 Safeguarding certificate (or willingness to complete training).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
