SEN Residential Support Worker

Job description

I am working with a Residential SEN school in the Thanet area who are currently looking for Residential Key Workers on a flexi-bank basis. The school is a creative and unique residential school for children between the ages of 5 and 19. Situated in a lark area of parkland, the school look to meet the needs of children and young people with autism and severe learning difficulties with associated and behaviours that may challenge.

Position: Residential Key Worker

Hours: Flexi-bank Staff (Morning/Afternoon shifts)

Pay: £9.25 - 11:25 per hour

Person Specification:

  • Ability to follow a work pattern and attend work punctually and reliably
  • Ability to go wherever the young people do and participate and lead indoor and outdoor activities
  • To be able to communicate clearly and easily with young people and others in a variety of ways
  • Ability to form appropriate, professional relationships with young people and others involved in their care

Your Primary Role Will Involve:

  • Working in the residential area providing guidance, support and encouragement to young people in a variety of settings including classroom, education and off site activities
  • Enabling young people to develop by providing physical and emotional support
  • Working as part of a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of the young people first

Qualifications/Experience:

Whilst previous experience within a residential children setting would be beneficial it is not essential. The school provide their own training for all staff working within their provision.
