SEN- Teaching- Assistant- Part-time- Team – Teach

  • - Are you an experienced teaching assistant with an interest in developing your skills and expertise in a special school?
  • - Do you want the opportunity to access specialist training such as: Team- Teach?
  • - Are interested in supporting the holistic development of pupils with a wide range of needs such as: ASC, PMLD and severe learning difficulties?

A secondary special school in Oldham is currently working in partnership with teaching personnel. The setting caters for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who are aged 11- 19. The head teacher is looking to appoint a SEN teaching assistant. Initially the role is for the first term September – December 2017; however this could result in a permanent position for the right candidate.

The role will involve working in co-operation with a Qualified Teacher to support the development of pupils with SEN. Due to the nature of role the school require an experienced teaching assistant who preferably has experience in working with pupils with special educational needs. The pupils who attend the school may show signs of challenging behaviour, therefore the ideal teaching assistant should have experience of dealing with situations and know how to handle challenging behaviour.

Due to the specific needs of the pupils the ideal teaching assistant will have:

- Extensive experience of working with pupils with SEN

- Team – Teach training (Desirable can be provided)

- Experience working within a special needs setting (preferably a school)

- A commitment to supporting the optimal development of pupils with SEN

- Experience of working in line with safeguarding procedures

- The ability to build strong working relationships with pupils, school support staff and parents

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
