SEN Classroom Support Worker (Complex Needs)
Location: Swansea & Carmarthenshire
Pay Rate: £14.25 per hour
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term Time Only)
About the Role
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a SEN Classroom Support Worker to support pupils across a range of schools in Swansea and Carmarthenshire.
This role involves delivering 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including autism, SEMH, and complex needs. You will play a vital part in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning while promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in the classroom.
This is a rewarding, hands-on role suited to individuals who are passionate about supporting young people who may find the mainstream classroom environment challenging.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN/ALN
- Assist pupils with learning activities and adapting tasks to individual needs
- Support behaviour management using de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies
- Encourage emotional regulation, confidence, and classroom engagement
- Assist with personal care where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people (SEN/ALN experience preferred)
- A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
Safeguarding & Compliance
You will also need the following (full support provided by Teaching Personnel):
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (Update Service)
- EWC Registration
- Safeguarding Training
- Two recent professional references

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
