Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD Specialist Provision
Llanelli Area | £92.63 per day | Full-Time Opportunity

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with additional learning needs? We’re looking for a caring, patient, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist ASD provision within a warm and inclusive Welsh-medium primary school in the Llanelli area.

This school is deeply rooted in values of inclusivity, respect, and pupil wellbeing. It provides a calm, structured, and nurturing environment where children with Autism Spectrum Disorder are supported to develop not only academically, but socially and emotionally too. The team are dedicated, supportive, and genuinely invested in every child’s journey—creating a positive, family-like atmosphere where both staff and pupils thrive. ✨

What will your day look like?
No two days are ever the same, but your role will be varied, meaningful, and incredibly rewarding. You might start your morning supporting pupils as they settle into their routine, using visual timetables and structured transitions to help them feel safe and prepared for the day ahead.

Throughout the day, you’ll work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups—supporting learning activities that are tailored to individual needs and abilities. This could include adapting tasks, using sensory resources, or breaking learning down into manageable steps. You’ll play a key role in supporting communication, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour, often using strategies such as visual aids, reward systems, and calm, consistent approaches.

You’ll also support during less structured times such as break and lunch, helping pupils develop social skills and independence. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, you’ll contribute to a consistent, supportive approach that helps each child reach their full potential.

What we’re looking for:

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient individual
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with ALN/SEN, particularly ASD
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to stay calm, adaptable, and proactive
  • Welsh language skills are highly desirable ️

What you’ll get:

  • £92.63 per day
  • A rewarding role in a specialist, supportive environment
  • Free CPD tailored to ALN, including Behaviour Training and THRIVE
  • Opportunity to complete Team Teach training at a discounted rate
  • Ongoing support from a friendly and experienced team

If you’re looking for a role where you can truly make an impact and be part of a school that values every child’s individuality, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
