A special school for boys, aged between 11 – 18, with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs are looking for teaching assistants in September. The school is situated in Oxford and accepts students from across the whole county. With approximately 60 students on roll we are a small but specialised school, where children and young people are respected, supported and encouraged.

Students have a range of additional needs which include Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Speech and Language Difficulties and Specific and Moderate Learning Difficulties.

The Teaching Assistant will be working with children who have a wide range of needs such as:

• Severe learning difficulties

• Poor self esteem

• Social, emotional and mental health difficulties

• Inability to form appropriate social relationships

• A diagnosis of Autism and ADHD

Role:

• Working 1:1 and/or with a small group of pupils

• Providing ongoing support to children with special educational needs

• Growing pupils confidence and encouraging them towards independence

• Providing a calming environment for children

Personal qualities required:

• A good listener and sensitive to pupils needs

• A sense of responsibility

• Positive behaviour management

• A good sense of humour
