My client school is a secondary pupil referral unit in Stockport who require a Teaching Assistant to support a pupil 1:1 with severe social, emotional and mental health challenges. This position is a temporary position with the potential to become permanent for the right person. The role requires the Teaching Assistant to support with the pupils school based lessons and be able to work collaboratively with Teachers with focus on pupil progression. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has substantial experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviours and mental health needs as well as classroom experience.

The school caters for up to 120 pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs across two sites in Stockport. This school caters for pupils who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school and are in need or more specialised, supported learning. One site runs vocational courses such as joinery, building and motor-vehicle where as the other focus’ more on educational progression.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have;

• Experience with dis-engaged young people

• A passion for working with young people

• Resilient character

• Team – Teach or similar qualification

• DBS on the update service is ideal

• Any relevant qualifications in relation to education or youth work are desirable
