SEMH Teaching Assistant – Chorley – Temp to Perm

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a resilient, compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist independent provision in Chorley on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

The school provides bespoke, nurturing education for pupils who require additional support to thrive both academically and emotionally. The staff team is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment that promotes positive behaviour, emotional regulation and personal development.

Role:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

  • Support the class teacher in managing behaviour and implementing individual learning plans.

  • Help pupils develop confidence, self-esteem and coping strategies.

  • Work closely with other professionals to deliver a holistic approach to education and wellbeing.

About You:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour or additional needs (education, care or youth work backgrounds welcome).

  • Calm, patient and consistent with excellent communication skills.

  • Confident setting clear boundaries and using positive behaviour strategies.

  • Flexible and proactive, with a genuine passion for making a difference.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
