Teaching Assistant – SEMH Provision – Preston

A rewarding opportunity has become available for a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Secondary SEMH provision in Preston. The school supports children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as a range of additional Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing a structured and nurturing learning environment.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is resilient, empathetic and passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable pupils. The role involves supporting learning across the curriculum, helping to manage behaviour, and building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or in a similar support role

  • Be confident in promoting positive behaviour and managing challenging situations calmly and effectively

  • Be patient, understanding, and able to build strong, respectful relationships with pupils and staff

  • Be adaptable and proactive in supporting learning both inside and outside the classroom

  • Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated and experienced team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
