SEMH Teaching Assistant, Bedminster
Temporary to permanent Full-time opportunity

My client is a well-known and Ofsted graded ‘Good’ school based in Bedminster that is seeking an immediately SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school are looking for a Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Year 4 on a 1:1 basis with SEMH. This is for a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant. The student has quite high mental health and anxiety issues and can quite often lash out as a response to this. The school require someone who has experience working with challenging pupils and can be flexible in their approach in recognising when the child becomes frustrated. You will be working alongside the SENCo on the child’s EHCP and working to create a plan that will help the child improve their behaviour, support their mental health and be able to confidently work in the classroom to ensure they can achieve their best.
The ideal candidate will ideally have experience of working within a SEMH role or have worked in a particularly challenging environment with primary aged children. Patience, resilience and flexibility are essential for this post in order to cope with the unpredictable behaviour of the pupils on a day to day basis. This role will initially be on a temporary basis with a view to turn permanent for the right candidate.
If this role sounds like one you would be interested in but the immediate start doesn’t work for you, I also have a similar role but working with a child in Year 2 with social, emotional and mental health issues. This role is due to start in September for the new academic year. Please get in touch if you are interested in either role or would like to hear more about other job opportunities working with Children with SEN or SEMH.
