SEMH behaviour mentor - Bury

A large primary school based in Bury (M26) is looking for a teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis and with small groups of children across Key Stage 2, supporting the emotional needs of pupils showing challenging behaviour and social emotional mental health needs.
The role will last for the full academic year and will involve building strong relationships with pupil’s to affect change in children’s lives and raise attainment so they can reach their full potential.
The successful candidate will use Maths and English interventions outside of the class room, working with small groups of pupils to challenge and push the children. As there is a large percentage of children with special educational needs and challenging behaviour, the focus of this role will be to support the pupils emotional needs and create strong relationships with the pupils.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous SEN or SEMH experience
- Team Teach training is desirable but not essential
- Experience utilising SEN and behavioural strategies for structured learning
This will be a challenging role and the right candidate will need to be resilient and practitioner to be able to connect with the child. However, if you have the skills required for the role, this could be an extremely awarding position where you will have the opportunity to really change the life of a pupil.
