Secondary Cover Supervisor – Stockport

Location: Stockport
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time (long-term temporary with permanent potential)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 3:30pm
Pay: £95 - £120 per day, depending on experience

Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisor to work within a high-achieving secondary school in the heart of Stockport. This school has a welcoming ethos and a well-structured behaviour policy, making it an ideal setting for both experienced support staff and graduates considering a career in education. You will be covering lessons across a variety of subjects in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise pre-planned lessons across KS3 and KS4 in a range of subjects

• Ensure students remain on task and engaged in their learning

• Manage behaviour in line with school policy and escalate issues as necessary

• Provide feedback to the relevant subject teachers at the end of each lesson

• Maintain a calm and productive classroom environment

• Support school staff with duties as required (e.g., break/lunch cover)

Essential Criteria:

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• Confidence managing a classroom environment

• Previous experience working with secondary-aged children (paid or voluntary)

• A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
