Cover Supervisor – Secondary School Setting

Location: Greater Manchester / Tameside / Stockport
Start Date: September 2025 or ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time and part-time available (flexible work patterns)
Pay: £95 – £110 per day

Are you looking to gain classroom experience in a secondary school environment? We are recruiting Cover Supervisors to support schools in the Greater Manchester, Stockport and Tameside areas. This is a great opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with previous education or coaching experience.

About the Role:

  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons to classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the usual class teacher.

  • Ensure pupils remain on task and engaged in their learning during lessons.

  • Manage classroom behaviour using school policies and support structures.

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement and progress.

  • Act as a positive role model and promote high standards of conduct and academic effort.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 weeks’ experience working with secondary-aged pupils (youth work, sports coaching, tutoring etc. considered).

  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.

  • Confidence leading lessons and managing groups of students independently.

  • Flexible, professional, and able to adapt to different school environments.

This is often a stepping-stone into teacher training or longer-term roles such as unqualified teaching posts or HLTA positions.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
